The Comedy About a Bank Robbery
Directed by Mark Bell
★★★★
The Criterion
09.06.16
This was the first production by Mischief Theatre that I have seen and the intimate setting of the Criterion Theatre made it a perfect space for this fine comedy to be performed.
The plot was, as is usually the case in a farce, simple but the pace was fast and slick and the comic timing by all the actors was impeccable. The cast worked fantastically well together to pull of a polished professional performance that seemed as fresh as if the run had just started.
The staging was seamless and there were some very original stage effects, not to mention some incredible acrobatic manoeuvres.
For me, Charlie Russell's performance as Caprice Freeboys stood out as did that of Nancy Wallinger as Ruth Monaghan as she combined her comic role with a beautiful singing voice.
It was a joy to watch and will continue its run through to 2017.
